Do you have to go to church to be a decent person? Nope.
Do you even have to go to church to be a Christian? Not really.
These days there is much confusion as to why belonging to a local church is important. Yet, those who have experienced the joy of belonging to a local church know the answer! Here are three great reasons to experience the benefits of church involvement:
People are built for relationships. Having a group of people for friendship, encouragement, and support is one of life’s great joys. In a church, people care for one another and are committed to walking through all of the good and bad circumstances of life together. A church is more than a collection of people – it’s an extended family! There is nothing quite like the deep relationships that are formed in a local church.
Church provides an ideal environment to learn about Jesus, the Bible, and God’s plan for the world. With so much confusion in the media and on the internet about what Christians actually believe, the local church is the best place to go for truth. In a church, a person can feel comfortable asking questions about life’s most difficult situations and feel confident that they will get a solid, honest answer. Also, in a local church a person can be exposed to a diverse group of people with a wide variety of levels of spiritual experience.
To Change the World
The Christian Church is the most dynamic force for change on the planet. Wherever there is disaster or human suffering, the Church is there – trying to do everything possible to care for people and restore hope. As followers of Jesus, Christians are committed to the needs of the poor and the sick and are defenders of those experiencing injustice. Belonging to a local church gives a person an opportunity to take part in the amazing work of God’s people around the world.
